Quincy "Q" Patrick is the founder and CEO of QwiLite Entertainment. Over the years "Q" has been writing and producing music for some of the hottest names in the entertainment industry. "Q" was instrumental in the launching of J Records by writing and producing the label's first two gold singles Liquid Dreams for O-Town, and Bizounce for Olivia. His other accolades include composing hits for Grammy Award Winners, Alicia Keys, Babyface, Usher, Luther Vandross, The Temptations, George Benson, Stephanie Mills, multi-platinum artist Joe, Jon B, Victoria "Posh Spice" Beckham, and countless others. In addition, he has written for several movie soundtracks and TV shows. A "first look" white paper on Future of Music Coalition's Artist Revenue Stream project was prepared and released at MIDEM. The study showed musicians get more income from fans and grants than merchandise and corporate sponsorships. The median gross income of respondents was $55,561 -- higher than U.S. median income -- but with only 42 percent of respondents deriving all of their income from music.

SoundCloud recently released Story Wheel, an app for creating a slideshow using Instragram pics and audio via SoundCloud. It's an interesting webtool with a lot of potential for music marketing involving storytelling. Though they will be connecting Story Wheel to additional services, the creators are insistent on maintaining a retro feel via Instagram's use of filters.
